EMO is short for emotional and this is what this group of people seems to value. They are excessively emotional about every little problem. The music is full of heartache and angst. The guys all have this piece of hair that hangs into their faces that they flip out of their eyes periodically and then let it fall back. It is a genre to describe a certain group of traits exhibited by these people. They don't smile or laugh. Not to be confused with gothic, or punk.

Emotional because they tend to hate life for no particular reason. Pansies.

Urbandictionary.com describes it as:

"Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 the of the face at an angle."

That about sums it up

emos are a new breed of music and fashion . im one . its a mix of punk and goth. we wear checkered vans or converse all star, black skinny jeans, tartan , have one eyed fringes and black or really bright coloured hair we love patterns , we say things like lmao - pronounced - lihmow- we are supposed to be depressed but really we are happy one min, sad the next and confused the next and thats what makes us emotional. we wear flashy earrings, love facial piercings, i wear hairbands with bows, our hair is choppy, we all wear scarves, we have morbid senses of humor , we listen to my chemical romance, afi, hawthorne heights, the misfits, the cure, funeral for a friend . people hat us cos they think we whine about our sad lives but theyre weemos and seemos ( wannabes and poseurs). were supposed to slit our wrists but depressed people become emo to feel like fitting in more , not emos becoming depressed . bisexual TENDENCIES are common but most emos are straight but you get gays in any subculture.....hope this helps . we wear starry clothing and look cool !!!!!! can i have ten points ???
