It's a dual ac/heating unit. The heater will run for about 6 hours at a time before shutting itself off.

It's been switched from off to automatic and the same problem presents itself. I do have a thermostat and I do know how to read it.

Obviously it's on automatic. Do you have a thermostat? Read it.

It runs for 6 hours then shuts off? Must be getting really hot in the house? Or does it heat. Or do you mean the blower runs for 6 hours before it will shut off? What exactly is your question. Eimail me.

I called a local heating/cooling company for you about this situation. The man said there are heat sequences in the thermostat and that one of them is stuck. He said there is one leg of it for heat and one for the fan. He said one of them is definately stuck. He said to call a Service Tech to come check it out. He also said the Service Tech would have the replacement part on his truck with him. Hope this helps you. (He said this is for an Elec AC/HEATING unit by the way) I didn't think to ask him about what if it was gas, since he asked if mine was Elec and since it is,I had said yes. (sorry bout that) Good luck to you

needs a new termostat, either that or your fan motor won't get to the sencer to stop itself.
