I started my "period" on Tuesday evening. Mostly spotting of brown/pink blood. I went to class that night and I spent the entire night cramping and having lower back pain. I was still mainly spotting. When I woke up in the morning, I still wasn't bleeding much but an hour or so later I was gushing bright red blood. I spent the day with more cramps and lower back pain. The bleeding slowed down in the evening and I barely bleed at night. Yesterday my bleeding was still slow, but I was passing more clots and cramping/back pain again. No bleeding at all over night. So far today, I am only bleeding when I wipe. Nothing is making it to my pad. I've never experienced anything like this before.
I also had a tubal ligation done in 2003 after my twins were born. So it shouldn't be a period, but nothing is really impossible. (I do know that my age & having it done right after a c-section increases risk of failure. How nice to find out afterwards.) Has this happened to anyone else?

Well I am still spotting some and it's been a week. Definitely odd for a period. I think I'm going to take the "wait and see" approach and see what happens next month.

I'm not confusing a tubal with a hysterectomy. I have no clue where you got that idea. I know you continue to have cycles with a tubal ligation as I have had 3 years of periods since my tubal.
Also with an early miscarriage you do not always have to have severe pain. Most early miscarriages are mistaken for heavy periods. Which is why I was asking this question to begin with. I would have only been 4 weeks which would make it a very early miscarriage or even a chemical pregnancy considering the pregnancy symptoms disappeared after my gushing/clotting episode.

well to me it sounds exactly like what im goin thru. u have the symptoms down to a T. i dont bleed much either but then i all of a sudden gush blood. im 8 weeks pregnant and i went to the ER and they told me that indeed i was having a miscarriage. i go tomorrow which is tuesday to see if i passed the baby or if i need a D&C. it hurts both physically and mentally. and if ur goin thru the same thing im soooo very sorry. and just wanted to tell u good luck.

I think that you are confusing tubal ligation and hysterectomy. With a tubal you will continue to have a menstrual cycle. With a Hysterectomy you will have none of the female parts required to have a cycle. As for a miscarriage...you are probably just having a bad period. When you miscarry you have non stop bleeding with clotting. The clotting would be your first clue as it would be heavy. The cramping will usually bring you to tears. When you discharge a fetus or an embroy it is a contant flow. You would be "gushing". Atleast in most cases. But if you are concerned that you have had or are in the process of having one you should go to the emergency room. In some cases the fetus does not completely discharge and can cause a pelvic inflammitory infection, or a number of other infections. Also a low grade to high fever may be present with miscarriage or an infection caused by miscarriage.

Sounds like a miscarriage to me. This same thing happened to me not the tubal but the bleeding and pain. It lasted over a week so my Dr finally scheduled an emergency D&C. I would def call my Dr. The reason you barely bleed at night is because you are laying down. After you got up all the blood that had pooled was able to finally come down all at once.

I had a tubal ligation in 2005 and my doctor told me that there is a chance for a tubal pregnancy. That is very dangerous. Since you are having cramps and pains. Thats nothing to mess around with. Get to a doctor.

It sounds like you are having a miscarriage. I'm sorry, I know from experience it is very painful. Call your doctor, they'll want to do blood tests to make sure that your body expelled everything on it's own or if you need a D&C.

sounds like a possible misscarriage to me. were you pregnant? I would suggest going into see your dr....if youve misscarried you cant be sure that everything is gone and it could result in infection. I had a misscarriage last year and your experience sounds sorta similar to mine, although i knew i was pregnant.

Yes!! You should definately go to the doctor. It seems pretty serious to me so just go and make sure that everything is ok!!

sounds to me that you need to go to the doctor because you have more then likly just experienced a misscariage
