I have already had a baby in December of 2005, and after her birth I was taking depo provera. It keep my periods lasting throughtout the year until I got sick of it in September when I tried the patch. It made me nauseated so I stopped taking that. Not knowing what else to do I got pregnant again. But from what the doctors say, the only way they can tell how far I am is if I get an ultrasound since they can't rely on my unusual cycle. I really don't want to wait. Can anyone please give adivise on this? I made my appointment in November but the doctor insisted theat they were so "booked up" that they couldn't me until yesterday. And I do plan on getting my ultrasound but I just wanted some kind of insight on the situation. I had to delete my first similar question cause Im kinda new at this. So... work with me here okay?

well yes I did go to the doctor yesterday and i had an ultrasound then. but the 'inferior technology' there couldn't find it out so they are sending me to the hospital to have it done. i haven't gotten an callback yet though. and i have never been a fan of alternative contraceptives.

oh my goodness, you guys are giving very good advise and i like how straight forward all of you are being. and i am getting the ultrasound whenever i get a callback from the doctor telling me when i go to the hospital. i am used this sort of thing since i went through it with my first child. i am eagerly awiting my ultrasound appointment though whenever it will be! Keep you all posted!

Well, your situation is a little odd. By what you're saying, you tried the patch in September, so I am assuming that you also stopped taking it in September. You found out in October of last year, which means there was only a small window there between when you stopped the patch and about a week before you took a pregnancy test that you could have gotten pregnant. It would be easier to guess if I knew the exact dates you stopped taking Depo Provera and stopped using the patch. I would assume that you got pregnant afterwards. I'm assuming you also are still pregnant and have not had regular periods or a miscarriage or anything since then.

Just a guess, I would say that you are between 16 and 21 weeks. At that rate, since you have had a baby before, you should be showing a decent bump and feeling the baby move. At this point, an ultrasound would be the best option for you. You could learn the approximate age of the baby and find out the sex. What holds you back from seeking an ultrasound? If it has to do with money or insurance, you can go to a local pregnancy center and they will do an exam and one ultrasound for you. When I say pregnancy center, I don't mean Planned Parenthood, since Planned Parenthood seems to be more concerned with performing abortions than overall pregnancy health.

I would recommend getting an ultrasound to see if everything is okay with the baby. If your doctor is too booked up to see a pregnant woman, you should definitely get another doctor. Good prenatal care is very important. Everything will be okay! :)

Find a new ob, they should have seen you before you were 9 weeks. It is critical that you have good prenatal care. If they are like this now how are they going to be at the 35 week point when you should be seen every week. Would they even be there to deliver your baby? If you need help finding a good OB I suggest calling up your local hospital maternity ward and asking them, as they work with ALL the doctors at some point and they know what they are like and how attentive to patients they are. I would say (this is a complete guess) that you concieved in October, shortly after you discontinued the patch. That would put you somewhere between 14 and 17 weeks. Hope I helped! Good luck!

You shouldnt really take advice from people on here, especially when it is concerning such a personal matter, If he had emailed you wishing to "discuss the matter", it did not mean you should start sending him jpegs and what-not. Did he even ask the child's sex or how far along you are? If he didnt then there was no need to disclose this information - and especially with a picture. He sounds like a weasel, and you've probably scared the s*** out of him, even more so by sending the pic and telling him he can be a father if he chose to be... I would not let this guy near your baby or yourself, unless he can physically prove that he is capable of being a father. What makes me hate this guy even more is that he doesnt have the balls to come and talk to you about this sensitive subject face to face - why the hell was he emailing you about it? And i'm sorry, but youre silly for sending him personal pics of your unborn baby to him through email; these things should be viewed personally.. Do not give this guy any reason to be involved with your baby, until he can man-up and come and talk to you about this face to face - what a weasel.

Has it kicked yet? I got pregnant in october of 05, and I remember first feeling her kick in January. It usually happens between the fourteenth and nineteenth weeks, and if you've already had a baby recently, you should be feeling it on the early end of the spectrum. Whenever the baby started or will start kicking count as sixteen weeks and count from there until you can get an ultrasound to confirm.

Also, what flaky doctors you have! Look for someone that can see you right away- there's no excuse for the delay they're giving you.

All I can tell you is how far along I am. I missed my first period on Oct. 20th. I am currently 17 weeks and 6 days, according to my midwife. I guess if you missed around Oct 1, you would be around 20-21 weeks along.
Good luck to you! So at your first Ultrasound you should be able to see the gender of your baby! How exciting!

The way I found out to know when you conceived and how far along you are is-

From 1st day of last period- Count back 3 months and add 1 week.
EX: if your last period started Aug. 2nd- Expect baby within a week or so of May 9th

So if you got an idea as to when you conceive and an estimate as to when your baby will be due, count back from estimated due date to today and that should give you an idea as to haw far along you are.

Hope that this helps!

probally between 20 and 24 weeks. October 1st conception. would be 19 weeks
For those who say 12 weeks, pregnancy is calculated from first day of last normal menstural period so it is furter than you guys think. The October conceptions are already in their 5th month of pre-life.

an ultasound should be able to detect a heartbeat after 11 weeks, if you got pregnant in October you should be at least 12 by now, i cant beleive they wont give you an ultrasound as they are 'booked up' that sounds ridiculous to me. complain.

With my first, my pregnancy test came up positive on Oct 31, he was born July 11. However, we were trying to get pregnant so I tested the first possible day.

No offense but "not knowing what else to do...."--condoms, pill, IUD, charting, its not like its depo or nothing.
