Hi, I was just wondering, if anybody knows how, I would go about writing my own book. Like where to start, and if I wanted to actually have it published how I'd go about that also?Just wondering.

You know, everyone seems to want to write a book and garner what they perceive as their fifteen minutes of fame. Anyway, to write a book is a HUGE undertaking. The REAL publishing world (not the on-line vanity stuff where you PAY to have your work published, and those all you kids seem to run to that publish any and every piece of tripe and total garbage - for a fee) is VERY difficult to get into, and most publishers are not accepting unsolicited manuscripts especially by amateurs such as yourself. You need tons of other writing experience before tackling something so big as a book. You also need to read everything you can get your hands on, and read and read and read. You need to understand market trends. You need to be excellent with your grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. You need to know manuscript style backwards and forwards. You need to understand outlines and the art of the synopsis. Just writing some little ditty and looking in a cataloge of publishers (again, most don't accept work from amateurs and certainly no insolicited work). Judging from your question, you are by NO MEANS ready for all of this. (Neither are any of the other hundreds of people who ask this question daily, nor the ones who give naive and totaly incorrect advice!) I mean, if you have to ask where to start and don't even know that writing anything begins with an idea and a need to communicate, I would choose another hobby or vocation.

Take an online course through Barnes and Noble. You will get good feed back, good practice, and once you have a book others want to read, Barnes and Noble will even publish it. If you want to write a genre, like Harlequin romance, some publishing companies have outlines to help you get started. Make sure whatever you write is something you would want to read, otherwise no one will buy it.

Start writing. If you are doing non-fiction you might want to make an outline. This will give you a direction with your book. Otherwise, just write. Write some everyday. You can find Publishers catalog on-line.
