Maybe you've been asleep over the past 10 years, Mr. Cricket, but we have no 'bleeding heart liberals' in power any more...but politicians who have taken on the Fanny Thatcher recipe book of seriously adding (right wing values...but without rhyme or reason)...and reducing seriously not only the Labour values that earned them contempt of the late seventies, but the others that made the party great before then.
Concerning the 'threat to the general public' - the government feels it needs to support the Royals before anyone else...be they sex victims or old lasses who are burgled continuously...that's the way it is!
