I have amazingly dry skin all of a sudden, to the point that my knees are cracking. Right now I've been using St. Ives. Any suggestions about what's the best brand to use? Preferably something I can find in a drug store.

It's not only my knees and elbows that are the problem. My back is terribly dry, so much so that all I do at work is wiggle in my chair to scratch it. Surprisingly, my hands are ok, and my feet are as good as could be expected from wearing workboots all day every day.

Whichever brand you decide to use, be sure to use it immediately upon getting out of the shower. Some people use lotion while they are still in the shower and just pat their skin dry. The thing is, is that the lotion seals in the moisture that is still on your skin. Good luck.

This is my winter routine (I get severe dry skin and eczema flare ups). After showering, pat most of the water off...but stay a bit damp. I squeeze just a bit of baby oil gel and a little scoop of Eucerin cream (not the lotion) into my hands. Then rub the two together in my hands and apply to my skin. This seals the moisture in well. I usually shower at night and then follow this process. In the morning I apply a moisturizing lotion...usually Vaseline Intensive Healing Advanced Care.

At night earlier you bypass to mattress (so which you do no longer wash it off) and whenever you think of roughly it via the day, use some oil on your cuticles and your arms like candy almond oil or sesame oil (at well being nutrition save) so your no longer utilising any synthetics like petrolatum or mineral oils that may not do an element yet harm our surroundings. those will additionally penetrate deeper than any creme or lotion will and final. A tiny bit will do, it could experience oily earlier each little thing, yet once you do no longer use too lots, your skin will soak up all of it in in user-friendly terms a couple of minutes.

I have really dry skin, too. I use Johnson's Softlotion 24 hour moister. It works very well for me. Usually about $3-6 a bottle. Wal-Mart sells the travel size for around a dollar if you don't want to buy a big bottle and find it doesn't work for you.

We use Curel extra strength lotion. I have also used crack cream, but can't stand the horrid smell, so I switched to Avon's magic glove cream. My husband works outside in the freezing cold and his fingers crack from the weather. The Avon cream is the only thing that has ever worked for his fingers. Good Luck!

Lubriderm, Alpha Keri, and Eucerin are all very good. I also use Palma Christi soap which is available thru Baar (you can get it online and I'm sure there's a drug store that would carry something similar), all natural ingredients and no perfumes. I know how annoying this is!!!

ESPECIALLY FEET AND KNEES ETC WHERE THE SKIN IS TOUGHER. ALSO DIET IS IMPORTANT, W/ YOUR MEAL TAKE A FISH OIL CAPSULE ALONG WITH OTHER VITAMINS TO HELP KEEP SKIN SOFT AND PLIABLE. WAL-MART HAS LARGE BOTTLES OF FISH OIL CAPSULES.
