tax because england was chrging lots of tax money for british exports like tea and so that's why dey had the british tea party and that led into the american revolution

"No taxation without representation?" Since they were taxpayers, they wanted a say in their own government. Also, the framers were Enlightenment secularists who wanted separation of church and state, a VERY desirable thing.
