I guess I do not follow the Hollywood garbage much probably because I grew up there but who is Dakota Fanning and why does a 12 year old girl become a household name. I watch the news and the commentators act as if everyone should know who she is. What has she acomplished to achieve this recognizability?

Hide & Seek...I could go on. She is very intelligent and funny. She is nearly 13 now and at an awkward age. Many don't find her as "cute" as she was at 5 or 6. She will grow into a lovely young lady. She also has a younger sister named Elle that is showing up in movies too. In fact, the younger sister played the younger version of Dakota's character in I am Sam.

ok i'm the first person to say she was a lot cuter when she was younger, and for some reason she LOOKS old now! like a miniature old lady.
but looks aside, she is a great child actress. she became famous in I Am Sam, w/ sean penn. then she was in some movie w/ Denzel Washington, and then was cast in like every single movie that required a little girl!! she did some scary movies, and now she is currently in headlines cuz she is in a movie that has child rape involved. anyways, she is talented for sure! she was in charlotte's web and cat in the hat... anyways she is definitely a household name by now.
