The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government
It was once said that the moral test of Government is how that Government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.
I guess we haven't done very well but that should be their role!
For years governments have been promising more than they can deliver, and delivering more than they can afford

The government SHOULD be protecting its citizens and upholding the law. Thats it. But now a days the government, at all levels, is into everything. The Liberal Democrats think this is a good thing, and keep proposing more govermment while criticizing those who want to make it smaller.
