I remember James Spader's character "Alan Shore" from Boston Legal had it in an episode, and explained it was something sexual or had something to love. I couldn't find a website that came close to it, or if adults can have it, just children. I also remembered his character needed someone to watch him before he heads to the window to jump, or even restraints. Does anyone remember this?

Night terrors occur during a very deep theta wave sleep. The person is not dreaming and typically will not remember the terror. This is the same deep sleep that is associated with sleep walking.

Boston Lega's portrayal of night terror is not meant to be accurate but rather entertaining (which it is).

Night terrors mostly are associated with children, and I do believe that it is psychological. I think it is considered a sleep disorder, but I'm not positive. Try a child psychology website or wikipedia.

As for adults, again, not sure if they can have them, but I'm sure it's possible, and maybe some adults do.

From an amatuer standpoint..Night terrors are our sub-conscious mind's inablity to fight off conscious trauma while asleep...When we are awake, the traumatic events in our lives are evidident...but we are able to ward them off by pre-occupying our thought process with more pleasant stimulus...While asleep, we lose this ability..Maybe not the answer you sought..but I feel it's the one some may be looking for. God Bless
