Alright, So this is my question-
EVERY time we lay our daughter in her bassinet to sleep, She grabs her cover, And throws it over her face. It scares me TO DEATH! BUT...If we move the cover, even slightly, She wakes up and is NOT a happy camper.
I am SO afraid that she is going to get tangled up in the blanket, and not be able to breathe...How on EARTH to I solve this problem?
I don't know if it's in my 'genes' or what, But my now, 21 month old son, Did the same thing when he was an infant.
I've tried using different blankets (Most of the ones we have, Have the silky edging on them) and she rubs her fingers through it, I thought maybe if she had a blanket with no silky edging, She would stop, Not so, She still rubs and rubs and rubs until the blanket is covering half of her face.
Any suggestions?

My son did the same thing. Dont use blankets. Get some really warm sleepers and put her in them to go to bed.

I run a child care in my home and I've watched several babies that do the same thing your daughter does. It freaks me out, too, but if the parents thinks it's ok I try not to worry about it. I usually check on the babies more often if they sleep with something over their face. Also, I found that the cloth diapers that I fold in half and use as burp cloths, are pretty thin when they are just one layer. I have a couple that I have cut into small squares, just enough fabric to cover a baby's face, and I will give that to a baby who likes to cover their face while sleeping. It makes me feel better to know they can't wrap it around their neck and it's thin enough to breathe through pretty easily. Something to think about. Take care.

My son also likes something to hold, so I cut a small piece of blanket for him and he holds that. If you don't want to cut a blanket, try a small wash cloth. As for keeping him warm, we use a sleep sack which is much safer than a blanket. I highly recommed taking the blanket out of the crib...babies have died that way.

i would not concern. docs are continually saying little tid bits of information that we contemplate approximately for weeks! My son became 6 kilos 12 oz.. At 3 months he basically weighed 10 kilos and my wellness practitioner pronounced he could benefit some weight. he's wholesome and reached his milestones early and is a satisfied 18 month previous with a great urge for foodstuff and nonetheless on the thin area. each toddler is distinctive. She'll drop some pounds while she starts off crawling and you will omit the toddler fat. :-)

Something that worked for my kids (now ages 5 and 5 months) is sleep sacks. They are made by Carters and you can buy them at Wal-Mart, JC Penny, etc. and they look like a blanket sleeper but no feet, they are totally enclosed and very warm, then you don't need to use a blanket.

My little one does the same thing, and shes 4 months. I am able to take the blankets from her though. Try putting her down with no blankets, and after she falls alseep then put the blanket on her.

If it's chilly in her room, put her in warm PJ's and give her a blanket that is "breathable". A little light baby blanket. My girls did the same thing and that worked for us.

my 4 mth old son does the same thing. so i give him a rag to hold. it's not large enough to tangle himself in so suffocation with the rag is not possible and he is comfy.
