disabling the touchpad can be achieved by pressing Fn + a function key (don't know which one it is on the Presario).

on certain laptops it's Fn + F9 (on mine it's Fn + F10)

Why would he want to turn off the touch pad?

If you plug a mouse into the mouse port/usb port, then you don't have to mess with the touch pad - just ignore it.

There are usually touch pad settings in the control panel, which let you adjust the double-click speed, and the movement - there may be a place to disable it in there, but I doubt it.

Notebooks will frequently contain a touchpad utility. you're able to see an icon next on your clock with a image of a touchpad. If it fairly is not there, bypass to HP and spot in case you may acquire the utility. you're able to be waiting to configure the settings from there.
