get home before she gets home from work, clean the house. make a simple, tasty meal (something light, low alcohol, since it's valentine's day - wink wink). set the table for two, with candles. you can get a descent quality bottle of wine in the $9 range, i recommend yellow tail brand. even if the meal is meatloaf and mashed potatoes or eggs and bacon, just the fact that you took the time to do these things is very romantic and would make a terrific gift for your wife. especially if you can get a friend or relative to help out with the kids, if needed, and give you two some alone time.

Basically what I'm doing is that I'm giving him a memory box with some stuff I put together for him. I also made him a really nice card with a heartfelt poem that I wrote. I made him a poem book with pictures I have taken as well. : } I'm doing all this stuff because Valentine's is our first anniversary. ♥

Well, I found this great website that has a lot of ideas that people sent in. A lot of great ideas... cheap, creative, sweet. So if you need ideas, here ya go:

I suggest writing letters to one another and putting a picture of the both of you in a tin box and burying it in your back yard-kind of like a "time-capsule". Then read it when you reach your 50th wedding anniversary or on Valentine's day ten years from now!

buy things like construction paper and make you own things. decorations, a valentines card. i make my husband every year a coupon book. this can have anything in it from doing the dishes to doing the deed;) she'll just take a coupon out of the book and give it to you when she wants something done. my husband LOVES it. good luck!
