Hang on people, time is not man-made its another dimension to our world. if man created time how did time pass to allow the creation of man? Come on you guys think...as to your question the current theory as per the creation of the universe has evolved due to M-Theory, which is a theory evolved out of String Theory and Supergravity combined. Basically it says a collision of other universes created ours...there was a big bang but it wasnt something out of nothing, there was time and physics and everything before it happened. The collision theory explains why matter is not distributed evenly throughout the universe as well. The universes behave like wavy bubbles, and when the surfaces meet the ripples on them cause an uneven distribution in the new universe created. Read up on it, M-theory is fascinating...

According to the theory, they both came into being at the same time. There was nothing 'before' so to speak.

That is the theory anyway - opposing logic may be correct, but if it disagrees with the theory, the description is not ACCORDING to the theory.

The question was PER the big bang so the answer must be framed to regard the theory as true - at least for arguments sake.

Time is part of space-time. Space-time didn't exist prior to the big bang. Since force can only be defined in terms of time (i.e. change in momentum per change in time), force wasn't defined prior to space-time (actually, the word prior really has no meaning in that sentence), so only came into existence when space-time did.

They came into being at the same point.

The matter had to exist before the Big Bang happened so time had to have already existed.

On the other hand, where there is matter there is force, since matter moves via force. So perhaps they came about together.

Troy

A single space-time entity of two dimensions was the precursor to the evolution of the universe.

Assuming, relatively speaking, that nothing existed before the Big Bang, there was no time.
Time was created by man, and time is infinite in space.

Neither evolved. They just were. If you had to wait for time to come into existence, it would never show up because there would be no time to wait through.
