It seems that in every place in society- work, teams, discussion groups, schools, there are always cliques.

People need to feel like they belong. The other side to that, is that they need to feel special, so consequently some need to be excluded. It's basically a way to feel safe/superior - depending on how you look at it.

properly the clique might properly be effective, like a place to belong..yet i hate while peopel assume something while u look a definite way like if a guy acts girly hes labled gay or if a woman crys at school shes called emo all 12 months

We come from "social" animals, which is a self-preservation instinct that carries over from our ancestors. On the other hand, I am a loner, no kids, anti-social (for the most part) -- so where do I fit in?

It seems like it, birds of a feather and all. It is funny because they feed each other's egos and at the same time try to one-up each other. Lame.

I believe people are drawn to others who are like them, therefore cliques are formed. I'm one of those who talks to anybody and everybody...a "floater"

it's a pack mentality I think, some people feel stronger in numbers
