Yep, Florida is the only place in the world with alligators and crocodiles, we're special like that.

American crocs are a bit more estuarine in nature than gators, but I'm sure that up in the salt marsh they'll open up a basking spot. I've noticed that gators in areas that don't dry out don't dig holes, and since crocs are usually in something attached to something tidal, they don't deal with the same drought issues as some gators do.

American Crocodiles dig holes in mud or sand and then bury the eggs and American Alligators lay eggs on the ground and bury them with plant debre, therefore making a mound. Yep, we have crocs and gators. Crocs are only in southern florida here. Gators live in more freshwater areas in Florida and across the south into Texas. The crocs can tolerate higher salinities and have glands to help get rid of salt. Gators don't have salt glands. Lot's of other interesting differences too.

You know, I didn't know you had crocodiles in America. I thought they were all alligators. Excellent - I love learning new things.
