Any question could be seen as perception. Thus, a "valid answer" is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I find it fitting now and then, because they'd be more likely to find the answer themselves if they removed the assumption or generalization.

Stop generalizing is not an answer. It is a request for further clarification that can lead to an answer. No one can give a proper answer if they do not understand the question.
