Actually, both real and fantasy. The name Santa Claus is a mispronunciation of the Dutch word "Sinterklaas" which is the contracted form of "Sint Nocalaas" the Dutch word for Saint Nicholas. Saint Nicholas is a historical figure and was a bishop of Myra in Asia Minor who used his whole inheritance to assist the needy. The thought of St. Nicholas being a gift-giver originated in a tale saying that there was a man who lost his fortune and is incapable of supporting his daughters who could not find husbands for they lack money for dowry. But then St. Nicholas helped them by putting money on socks (every retelling varies) thus enabled the man's daughters to be married. This tradition has preserved to the being of Santa Claus who gives gifts for children with his rein deers. But the historical St. Nicholas was mixed with various legends that has stayed to the identity of Santa Claus. Note: Santa Claus, Father Christmas, and Kris Kringle are different persons, they became identified as one another because of their trait as gift-givers.

This is not a serious question. Unless if you see this from a child's point of view, Santa Clause is not real.

Yes, he is real. He may not be tangible but he is real. I would be interested to know of all the people that say he isnt real, do they believe in God? What about Ala? Satan?
No matter how hard people try and tell you that Santa isnt real there is most likely a person that they "believe" in.

Why is it so easy to believe there is a Santa Clause, but we don't believe that we all need Jesus as our Lord And Savior? He gives us all our presents, but dose anyone take time to Thank Him?
