1) Find the LCD - 42
2) Change fractions to have the same denominator by multiplying the top and bottom by the same number.
3) Add the first two, get a larger negative number.
4) Subtract the answer from the third number. The answer takes the sign of the greater, positive or negative.

Why does everybody answer homework questions with "do your own homework?" Why not just answer the question. They are looking for help, and usually the best answers are ones that explain how they got that answer. If they are just looking for a quick answer, then they will suffer in the long run because they can't ask these questions on a test and if they don't know the way to solve them, they won't pass the class. So why don't you guys just help them out and answer instead of always telling them to do their own homework!!!

i'm now unlikely to do your homework for you, yet i am going to provide some tricks :) some thing divided through itself would properly be cancelled out celebration: 2x (over) 3x thus x is split through x so those would properly be canceled out. thus the simplified equation must be 2 (over) 3.
