satisfaction and optimism are not the same. satisfaction has to do with past asccomplishments or present circumstances but optimism has more of a futuristic aspect to it. Being optimistic incorporates goals, dreams and aspirations. Some of comes into play concerning optimism is personality, mindsets, and upbringing. Some of these things are unchangealbe and some can be altered. Things as you say---I take to mean material possessions can make our lives more enjoyable and comfortable, but at the end of the day things do not make us happy. We all know many ppl with lots of things who are miserable and ppl with very few possessions who seem very happy. My suggestion to you is maintain a balance in your life. Have some good friends in your life, have some things, and set some short and long term goals for yourself and implement the steps to achieve these goals and dreams. Good luck

Optimistic means seeing the good side of a situation.

Hellen Keller "When one door closes a window opens. Often times we're so disappointed by the door closing that we don't see the window open for us."

I think it also means seeing the good in people too.

To be optimistic in life I think that you should be doing hobbies, sports...etc. that you love to do even if you're not the best at them. The same thing goes with a job. If you're not happy with ANY part of it, you should try something you think you would enjoy.

Appreciate your family and friends and don't take them for granted. Be content with how much you already have instead of wishing that you had something else (material possessions).

Be at peace with your past (they made you who you are today), and make decisions wisely because every decision you make will affect your future.

Mans biggest mistake is believing it is always green on the other side, not always the case, be happy with what you have or be happy to be alive, or just be happy.
