Because opinions and ideas can be outdated. Take for example a science book from last year that might say "pluto was a planet." Very recently we have found this to be incorrect so were you to put a whole piece on pluto as a planet your piece would be incredibly flawed due to your outdated information. Good luck!

Because ideas, facts, theories, all change over time. For example, a year ago it was a fact that the Solar System contained 9 planets. Today it is a fact that the Solar System contains 8 planets.

Another example - in 1975, we knew about 13 moons that orbited Jupiter. Now we know of at least 63, although that might be an old number, too!
