You're going to drop him for two passes when he made how many crucial catches?? Why don't you release Brady for throwing the interception at the end of the game too while you're at it. Aw, heck, release everyone on the defense that missed a tackle in the second half! Maybe it would be better to fire Bellichick for trading Branch? Hm?
They need to get a better receiver. Caldwell is not a number one receiver...if he was, San Diego wouldn't have let him go. NONE of the Pats receivers are number one guys. A strong, number one go-to receiver is a major reason why they aren't in the Super Bowl this February.

Reche Caldwell dropped 3 passes all season and you are wondering if he should be let go? Heck no. He is a good wide out that had a bad game. Actually a bad couple of minutes in one game. He still had 7 Catches for 80 yards and a TD. Plus he had a fumble recovery.
Now on the other hand i would not of let fred thomas (cb for saints) back in the locker room after the bears game. He continually got burned game after game, including the playoffs.

He's fine. Other than those friggin eyes, he's fine. Good God the dude looks like he's permanently surprised. "Oh sh*t, they're throwing to me again!" Did someone cut off his eyelids? Imagine him breaking into your house and seeing those eyes. Dude I would be scared as hell if I saw him...of course he'd look equally scared.
Let's put it this way, Caldwell dropped crucial passes and cost them the game. Yes. He's still young and still has a lot of work and may end up being good. He's got great vision (haha) and probably can see the CB AND safety closing in on him while he's about to catch the ball. If not, it's always a good cover after dropping a ball to look surprised...he's got that down pat (no pun intended)

TO dropped more passes than anyone this season, some that may have cost Dallas victories and I don't think people are calling for his release based on that, his antics maybe but not his drops. These things happen. Should they release Brady for throwing an interception that ended the game that he could have possibly won one if he wouldn't have? People make mistakes if teams released everyone who dropped a pass at a crucial time there would be almost no one left to play receiver in the league.

It was one game. You really can't release a player (especially a generally well behaved player) in the NFL for 1 bad game. If they got rid of Caldwell who would be their #1 reciever? Jabar Gaffney? That's the problem with the Patriots of the past 2 years or so. I think their past successes have gone to the owner's head. He's been trying to go bargain-basement hunting for players. It worked for a little while but it's coming to bite them in the butt. They are 30 million dollars under the cap. They should use some of that.
The Patriots need to kick themselves in the butt for not re-signing Deion Branch. They thought that they could just plug anyone in his place and get equal production. Wrong. You need to pay players what they are worth. If they had Deion Branch they might be getting ready to play in the Super Bowl instead of getting ready to watch it like the rest of us.
Unfortunately for them I don't see them starting to pay anyone anytime soon, which is probably why Asante Samuel will sign elsewhere. You can't blame the players for wanting to get as much money as possible.

Caldwell is a good player. Troy Brown might retire. They released Doug Gabriel. So the only receiers they have now are Caldwell, Gaffrey and Chad Jackson.
It'd be pretty stupid to dump him.

Yeah that was bad, but he's been good all season. Remember this was an average receiver to begin with.
I'm sure he will work harder this off-season.
And come back better.
I really think the Pats are going all the way next year.

no, he did drop 2 crucial passes, but he caught 3 crucial passes against San Diego.
give him time, he's trying to learn a new system. SD and NE run totally different Offenses.
