LOL that is so true! I am serious. My husband does that all the time. He starts a conversation in the form of a question and argues my answer to tell me he knows for a fact that he is right!? But then ends it with well maybe you have a point in what you said.

My father is one of those guys.
Dad over simplies what was required for any thing to be done for his benefit.
Dad always has what seemed to be a simple solution for some very complex problems.
Dad voices incredible expertise about things he has never had to do in his lifetime.
Dad has absolutely no idea of what was really required from other people to make him happy.
Dad was the youngest of three children. My two aunts were quite a bit older. My paternal grandparents were in their FIFTIES when Dad was born. So, Dad was spoiled as a child. Dad always got what ever he wanted, no matter what the cost to anybody else.
I was four years old when Dad abandoned my mother and me. We had nothing. I watched through the living room window as Dad drove away in a company car. We had
no other car.
Dad had met, at church, a woman with enough money for Dad to start his own business.
Then, about two years later, to suit his ego, and prove he could really raise a stink, Dad sued for custody of me. The result was a "a split custody". I spent the school year with Mom, who had remarried, and my Christmas and summer vacations, I spent with Dad and a woman who lived only to make my life miserable. Those "vacation visits" with Dad cost me little league baaseball, Pop Warner football, summer time jobs, and made dating difficult, later.
The worst day of my life was not the day Dad left. It was the day he came back.
I have very little to do with my father, now.
He has divorced and remarried. I guess since my first step-mother couldn't make my life miserable any longer, she started on him! He is getting old. I have two adult step-sisters and a step-brother, now.
Dad's present wife spoils him almost as much as his parents did. He still gets whatever he wants, no matter the cost. He makes everyone miserable until he does.
Dad's childhood is the cause of his personality, apparently.
I think he's like the person you're asking about. He's a bully, a coward, a liar and unbelievably selfish. The less we have to do with people like that, the happier we are.
This is based entirely on my experiences. Let's hope this is NOT your best answer.

Someone has to answer what they are asking even if they don't know the answer to what they are asking or know the question you are asking so I don't have an answer.

They want to influence people. It's a control thing.
They also don't want to look stupid because they don't understand what you're asking.
If you're talking about on here, it's so they get points for answering questions.
