You are right! Many took Vioxx just to get rid of pain but it killed more Amaricans than the terrorists did on 9/11. They supress symptoms but all have side effects. It is estimated that 40% of medications are for the side effects of other medications.

For UTIs the best thing is to pee after sex.
Colds and Viruses- Wash you Hands Frequently with soap and warm water. Try not to touch your face/mouth throughout the day. Get a hand sanitizer for the times when sink is out of reach.
Take a multivitamin and drink lots of water. Rest and exercise will also boost your immune system. Also, stay away from people who are sick.

Have you looked into Ayurveda? It's mostly for changes in your diet. I like the system, but a lot of its practitioners generalize too much and expect everyone to understand what they're talking about right off the bat. It sounds like you need to eat more warming foods, like ginger.
Oh, and is D-Mannose an enzyme for your digestive system? I believe in using enzymes to keep the immune system and digestive tract healthy. Yogurt, miso, pickles, and certain products at health food stores have enzymes and healthy bacteria that can help you not to have gas, bellyaches, low energy, and other annoying symptoms of your intestinal flora being unhappy. (Oral anti-biotics are famous for killing intestinal flora. Doctors who proscribe the stuff should be infamous for not also advising people to eat some yogurt (etc) after taking the anti-biotic.)

Vitamins is the correct answer there. Things High in zinc do wonders to the imune system, Airborn is a good one. Womens one a day is great and what I take. Centurion is a good one too.
Drink lots of water to flush the system. Eat good foods, and get at least 6 hours rest every day

For UTI's, pee after sex to wash away any possible bacteria that could cause UTI's. To boost your immune system, get enough sleep, have a good diet, and exercise. Only take vitamin supplements if your doctor reccommends them, because without a doctor's consent, they can cause further problems that nobody in their right mind would want to deal with. Good luck! Hope this helps!

Add ginseng to your diet. I am Korean, and most asians believe ginseng works miracles. When I was younger my mom made me drink ginseng (a real ginseng root boiled in water, it will last a long time... you only need about 2 gulps a day)
It is very bitter... but I NEVER got sick while i drank that.
It is really expensive if you get real ginseng root, but there is a lot of ginseng products like pills, teas, drinks, etc. that will help too~
and you can get it at most drug stores like, GNC or even Wal Mart

Better eat fresh vegetables & fruits in place of vitamin tablets. Try ayurvedic medicine in place of allopathic... ayurvedic medicines are 100% natural. I'd recommend "chavyanprash" or "chyawanprash" (spelling concerns), an ayurvedic jam helps increasing immunity... naturally.

Cranberry juice, (you already do the vitamin, but multivitamin?), and get more sleep. Lack of sleep knocks an immune system down.
And if you smoke, quit.
