What you have to do is take some of the wet clothes out of the washer and just set them aside. Fix the layout of the clothes still in the washer so it is balanced, then turn it back on and let it finish it's cycle. Then when they are done, put them in the dryer, and finish washing the wet clothes you took out.
I've done this a lot myself, and never actually broke the machine, you just have to balance out the load and it is fine.

Does the machine still whoom after removing the clothes and leveling it? Sear/Kenmore a/w are self leveling. Adjust the two front feet equal then pull the front of the machine hard enough forward to raise the back about 4" or 5" and dropping it providing the levelers on the back legs are not rusted up this will level the machine. If it still wobbles, check the tub suspension springs.

well besides putting too many clothes in it, just take some out and put them in a bucket, i think your washer may need to be leveled. if it goes out of balance easily, it needs to be leveled. you must still have the owners manual so look it up and see how to do it. good news for you is that Kenmore's are easy to level. after you read how to level it, read how to load it because you aren't doing that right. if you want your clothes to get clean, they have to be able to move inside the wash water. next time you do a load try this, before you even turn on the water, just drop clothes in around the agitator, one item at a time. when the loose clothes reach the top, stop, do not add anymore clothes. now take the clothes out and stack them on the top of the dryer, that is how big of a load your washer can handle, anymore and it is overloaded. now you can turn the water on and add soap and bleach and fabric softener, then add just the clothes from the top of the dryer. i know you don't want the obvious, put you got it! good luck.

Glo has it. When the tub is unbalanced it will make a heckofa racket. Stop the machine, take some things out, redistribute what is in there, replace EVENLY the items removed. Restart the spin. Ah, hear that quiet hum?
