In general, Native Americans in North America were not known for any type of torture or murder of whites. They were peaceful people & did not dwell on revenge. I don't recall them holding prisoners at all, & if they did it wasn't for very long.
I believe Americans today really want to convince ourselves that we were justified in stealing the Native American's land. To do this we've created this false perception of them, making them sound barbaric & malevolent.
Native Americans didn't just go & attack the white men. They defended themselves against the white men. So really it doesn't make sense that they would hold prisoners, let alone torture them. Torture & revenge were not concepts the Native Americans were accustomed to doing. Americans today continue to be mislead about Native American culture. Maybe because it makes us feel better if we convince ourselves that they were bad people. Sadly enough, that's not true & we're pathetic for believing so.

mostly all natives tribes would raid and kill the adults but they would always send some kind of warning that they were coming to give the settlers a chance to get off their land. they would never kill the children they would take them and adopts them into the tribe and they were treated just like another person of the tribe the Sioux the Cherokee were known to do this often in fact i read a story about a girl that had been raised by Indians that was returned to the whites of a peace treaty but she ran back several times to that tribe but there were tribes that did torture their captives in fact one of the favorites of the apaches was to barry some one up to there head in the dessert and leave them to die but that was normally done to soldiers
