Have you ever thought of how Any Rand's novels come to play in real life? For example, I think "Rush Limbaugh" the radio show host to be "Hank Reardon" (not sure about the spelling), the guy who owns the newspaper along with a whole bunch of other stuff. Anyways, whom do you think in real life replicate Howard Roak and Dominic?

Food for thought. Take the questions seriously or lightly, I would like your insights.

Hank Reardon might also be Donald Trump, do you think?

Hank Rearden was in Atlas Shrugged and ran steal mills and invented Rearden Metal. He was the epitome of an industrialist who held the world on his shoulders through sheer force of creative ability while the world sought to trip him and stab him and crucify him for his ability to create jobs and necessary devices that people wanted and needed.

I can't see how you could see Rush as a Newspaper magnate like Gail Wynand. I could see Rupert Murdoch as that, since his modern yellow journalism crew has single handedly split the Republican party into Neo Conservatives and Republican Diehards, causing a leftward tilt to the entire industry beginning in last Summer's Israeli War affair. It was a noticeable shift, and it is not a mystery that he is backing Hillary Clinton for President. And there is no doubt that Obama will be her VP.

The whole point of the Fountainhead was to portray an ideal hero. Howard Roark is supposed to be the reader. Dominic is supposed to be the force of love which has the ability to destroy the hero.

The Toohey character is easier to identify - he is an amalgum of all the leftist Media and "Socialist/Commie/Libs out there who put forward their wish for things to be better while upholding a philosophy that guarantees more slavery and worship of self sacrifice as an ideal.

Until we, as humans, wake up to Ayn Rand's call and realize that altruism is an evil road to Totalitarianism, and selfishness is a virtue, we will guarantee ourselves slavery in the end.

Her philosophy was designed around a rising hero, in the end...John Galt, who would stop the engine of the world and have all of the creative intellectuals and businessmen go on strike so people would realize that government bureaucracy is the enemy, not the businessman who succeeds and provides them a job.

The Robin Hood Hero concept is her target, she attempts to debunk it, but unfortunately, the average American can't read something as complicated as her novels and non-fiction and actually achieve the moral strength she seeks to instill, so it along with capitalism is considered elitist, and equality is set up as a goal since inequality would require responsibility and accountability and allow merit to shine. The Public Education system has dumbed this country down just as the Koranic faith has dumbed down Islam...and now, all we have is a Diplomatic war in order to stabilize or destabilize markets.

"The Selfish Earn. The Greedy Steal."

This is the Elemental Axe of Mac Zed, the Elemental Chronicler, Al-Mahdi Ibn Yahia...the intellectual heir of Ayn Rand, Friedrich Nietzsche, Adam Smith, Thomas Paine, Kurt Vonnegut, Aldous Huxley, George Orwell and Albert Camus...

This is John Galt speaking.

I read the Fountainhead awhile ago but I remember Howard Roak was a complicated character and no one comes to mind in real life that is similar. He was a bit of a martyr, and although I'm not religious the one person that comes to mind is Jesus. He sacrificed himself in a way for a passion that he had.

He's about the only character that I remember clearly, I forget who Dominic was unfortunately...I think I'm going to reread it. Great question, everyone else always asks about Anthem.

Unless you know a Howard Roark, chances are you won't hear of one. I read all those books so long ago, was Hank Reardon from Atlas Shrugged?
It's not Dominic, it's Dominique.
