There are many stories about his death but none of them seem to make any sense .
Jimi was found dead in a hotel room by himself after someone placed a call that he overdosed .
Why did they not get him help when he was having problems ?

I'm going to try to be as kind as I can here. Don't blame other people when someone dies from an overdose. We all have a choice and he made his. Jimi Hendrix was not a happy person and he chose drugs to help him cope. Unfortunately, it consumed him and took his life. I'm sure his family and friends tried to get him to quit, but the life was just to exciting for him to give up. There are so many people out there who die everyday from drug overdoses and there are just as many people left behind asking what they could have done different. We make our own choices and Jimi made his. That's the bottom line. Look at Elvis Presley, River Pheonix, Marilyn Monroe, John Bolushi, and Chris Farley, do you honestly think people just stood around and watched them waste their lives? No, they tried to help but nothing they did would help. People who are addicted to drugs have to stop doing them for themselves. If they don't then they will never get off of the drugs. It's that simple. Thank you.

I have read several Jimi biographies, he most informed sources say he took 9 vesperax sleeping pills and also was drinking wine that night, he feel alseep or passed out, threw up and choked on his own vomit -- the official cause of death. Basically he committed suicide. There was "girlfriend" with him that night gave several conflicting stories and was a pretty messed liar. She killed herself ten years later. I don't don't who you mean by 'They". I don't buy the line that he "underestimated" the strength of the drug, I think he took nine because he had a thing about that number, was depressed and left it to fate. However, he was NOT a herion addict -- hated needles.
I recommend the book "Jimi Hendrix: The Man, the Music, the Truth by Sharon Lawrence" which has the best explanation of his death that I have found.

According to Jimmy's last g/f Monika, Jimmy was put on the stretcher facing up, with no support given to his head ro neck...which in his intoxicated passed out state never should have happened. He ended up chocking on his own vomit. If he was put on the stretcher face-down, he would not have choked.
Monika's story varied constantly. Jimi's British g/f filed suit against Monika and this lead to Monika committing suicide in 1996.
The ambulance & hospital has stood by the report that Jimi was dead when paramedics arrived to his flat. With everything in his system, the most popular report is that he underestimated the power of the sleeping pills found in his system and was too doped up to awake after he puked...thus choking on his own vomit.
