From cityofchicago.org

If you are a new resident to Chicago or have purchased a new vehicle you have thirty (30) days (from the date you moved to Chicago or the date you purchased the new vehicle) to purchase your city sticker without the late fee penalty. In order to have the late fee penalty waived you are required to purchase your city sticker in person only at one of the following sales location and present documentation to verify your move date or date of vehicle purchase. The desired documentation is either a valid apartment lease or property bill of sale and vehicle bill of sale.

Easy enough to head to your local currency exchange and get a sticker. 30 days is more than enough time.
