I think that it's not safe to meet someone online from a website like MySpace, where you can't tell who's real among the plethora of old perverted men, and just generally crazy people. You especially shouldn't do it if you're young.
But, if you're on a website like Match.com, I think that's acceptable.

I don't think you should ever meet up with anyone off the Internet as there are many weirdos out there pretending to be someone there not. Our crime rate has risen since the Internet became so easy to get on. My advice is not meet people unless you are absolutely certain who they are and always tell someone where your going to meet this person and there name and any other contact info

I have met several people from the net. least of which was for dating. There is nothing wrong with it.

see, the thing is you can meet just as many idiots in person, as you can good people on the net.

you just have to learn how to get to know people, and that comes with experience. now, just like talking face to face, i can tell people's moods just by how they type. It is truly strange, but it is true.

No. The internet should be a catalyst to meet people in real life. It also should be a screen in the same way. You won't have to actually kiss a lot of frogs to narrow your search for the prince.

I think its OK as long as someone knows where you are & you meet at a public place. But you always have to watch out for the wierdo's.
