Model Tyra Banks is in the news because she is hurt about what the media has done about her image. Basically calling her fat.

Most of the skinny models I have seen; frankly they are the one's I find on the ugly side. What is beautiful about bones walking?"

I believe beauty is when one is at a weight that is healthy for their body. And I believe that most people would agree with me. So for those people that are models that are in the media's eye lets use this question as a way of letting them know we think the media has bad taste.

Generally I find the people that are into the "bone" look are young girls that are just beginning to learn about life and are being mislead by the media to what beauty is.

True beauty we all know is in the heart. But it sure does look nice when a body is in tip top healthy condition. And we all know the camera can be used to make a few extra pounds look out of control........a media trick. Let's let them know its not working!

tyra banks is gorgeous! i love her! but sadly the media is horrible.....compared to the anorexic images we see in magazines nowadays tyra banks is consideres "fat"....but in reality? shes normal...she absolutly stunning with or without the makeup and hair.........she is such an amazing woman. i'm so tired of our society's cult like fascination with being skinny......what ever happend to being healthy. these damn movies and magazines are the reasons girls are throwing up their food...i used to be like that.. but there comes a point when u've gotta say "ok, i can either continue to be accepted as something i am not and slowly continue killing myself or i can become beautiful in my own skin, and be healthy and happy with who i am as a person, not as the body image that is thrown at us everyday."

when will it ever be enough?

Trya Banks is far more healthy than those underweight models. It is not as though she is overweight, she just isn't stick thin, so the media feels the need to put her down. And for what, she is the one that has a healthy BMI of 23, where as these models have a BMI of less than 18 most of the time. She is the one that is healthier and will live longer. If she was overweight, it would be a different story. But Tyra is NOT overweight at 160lb and 5ft10 no matter what the media say. It's just the media seems to deem any women with an ounce of meat on her bones as fat and it is ridiculous and needs to stop! HTH : )

I think its sad what the media is saying about Tyra :( I'm sorry but when you see someone who is healthy, its beautiful. She is a beautiful young woman who deserves lots of credit for making women feel it is okay to be a size 8, 10 12, 14- sizes considered "big." Our media has fed our women garbage about self-image and should be ashamed. Even more so, the designers should feel ashamed that they have fed the frenzy to be paper thin.
Models that are so skinny they look like they are battling disease are gross. There's no beauty to it.

I think Tyra looks great after retiring from modeling. She has really filled out and is very womanly. She has a very healthy look. Have you noticed models and others who are very thin look worn out, pale and tired? But also, remember there are those out there who are just naturally too thin and their eating habits are no different than any other person. Being to thin can be just as hard on a person as being overweight.

I belive one should not suffer and starve themself. I am shocked to see questions from people on here, especially teens, asking if they are overweight. It hurts me that these people have this image of what is perfect and they feel less worth of themselves because they don't match up to it. You see a lot of young actresses these days with eating disorders and none of them are curvy at all. So these healthy teen girls at home see them as role models and look at themselves in the mirror and hate themselves. I cannot imagine what goes on in the schools these days, I am sure they feel the pressure there as well.

We need to teach our children to have the desire to be healthy and that they will feel good from it. That is all that matters.

Bones are gross, and fat is gross when its hanging out of the clothes ( dont get me started about large girls here wearing itty bitty shirts and what not exposing huge (and i mean 250Ilb) guts) For me a healthy weight is 130-160 but i know there is some people out there who would sit there and call me fat. i am only 5'3 but have a larger frame.

Basically i say if your healthy and your comfortable in your skin, thats all you need. No more of this bones being hot....

yes i agree.. but then again it is kind of biased.

you agree that everyone is different right? it doesn't make sense to me to try to standardize beauty. some people are petite and some aren't. i've seen larger people that are healthy and thin people just the same.

i am under the "standard" weight, yet i am a perfectly healthy person though i do eat smaller portions.. but it wouldn't make sense for a petite person to eat just as much as a larger person now does it? just like you wouldn't put the same amount of gas into a compact car that you would a truck now would it? each need need their own special amount (sorry i couldn't think of a better analogy right now). doctors have monitored my eating habits because they were concerned that i am small but then they said they found nothing wrong with me.

what i am concerned about is people who have been small for their entire life will be pushed into the same category as these people with eating disorders. just like its unfair for them to call tyra fat its unfair for me to be called anorexic.

why cant people just accept others for who they are. geez...

sorry about the rant, but all these people going crazy about "skinny people are unattractive and unhealthy" are just plain hypocrites.

I agree, healthy is beautiful.
Only time in my adult life I was underweight (for a fitness class in college had to obtain a certain weight to get an A) I felt awful. Did not look so good either. Always hungry, run down and just didn't fit my frame. My husband also likes "real women with curves and softness".

Touched up pictures can make a person look fat or skinny. Bone-thin models do not look good. A woman can be attractive, curvy and not fat. A good example is Eva Mendes or Jennifer Lopez.
