You CAN'T. Depression has a cause - different causes for different people. Anti depressants don't fight the cause of depression, they just hide the symptoms...

The best way to beat it? Find the cause of the depression, maybe with professional help? And then deal with the problem as best you can...

Everybody gets depressed to some extent through the course of their life, you just need to learn to take the highs with the lows... Somedays you'll feel shitty, others you'l feel great...

If you really want a drug to ease the symptons though? I like Cannabis... You don't have to smoke it if you don't want (infact it's better eaten), but it doesn't work for everybody...

If you're new to ganja, find some friends you trust, who smoke/eat it, and enjoy it with them for a night or two. Although if you've not done it before, I wouldn't recommend eating it - it's a lot more potent when ingested, and it creeps up on you slowly, so you could end up taking a lot more than you need - while this isn't dangerous, it can be very unpleasant, and even scary...

Find one of your mates who knows what he's on about with ganja, you'll have plenty, and get stoned with him/her

Some people find that St. John's Wort (Hypericum) can be helpful. However, if you are depressed, any kind of drug will only help with the symptoms not with the causes. It would be best for you to explore, with a professional person (e.g. psychotherapist, hypnotherapist) the nature of the causes. If you do this, it is unlikely that you will need antidepressant drugs of any kind then, of course, you can avoid any unwanted side effects too.

It is a good idea also to ensure that you are eating a good, balanced diet with plenty of variety and to get appropriate exercise.
Good luck and don't mess with any street drugs!.

St John's Wort is a common herb which is good for mild depression and anxiety etc.
It can be prepared as a tea or tincture or oil and so can be taken easily, as lots of different methods.
If you are picking wild St. Johns Wort be careful because it is a herb that get be confused, but a good test is that your fingers should turn a rusty red colour as within the yellow flowers are voilitile oils which would turn your tea or tincture red also.

If you are new to using herbs I would suggest that you get yourself a good reputable herbal handbook first.
Common Herbs for Natural Health by Juliette be Bairacli Levy is a great one.
Also consider Home Herbal by Penelope Ody.

You can buy herbs over the net or in herbal store but be wary to find somewhere with a good reputations.
Bought herbs, (dried or fresh) should still have a vibrant colour and smell.

St johns wort is brilliant. Chalmomile tea is good too. instead of drugs, take some excersise, sleep well, drink lots of water and try and resolve the issues that you have thats making you depressed. Also, eat lots of chocolate! and dont feel guilt about anything as it makes you depressed and lowers your immune system, i know it may be hard considering you are depressed but, try and work it out using natural, non street drugs!

Hello,

Firstly i would like to say that depression has many forms, and todays society it is becoming more common i think which down to modern life and nor enough time for family.

Anyway i would suggest Johns wort. Also make achange in your lifestlye..join a new group..yoga,walking etc..check out your local library or church. Also keep a diary of events every day..write down the things and situations which have caused you to feel depressed..often it may be other people..you may lack self esteem and confidence..therefore see things more personal.I have experinced depression myself..and it can often manifest itself in illnesess such as headeaches, backaches, heavy periods...all sorts of ways.Go to the doctor beofre getting Johns wort..as it is not suitable for everyone...and do not except prozac...one needs to do with out these strong drugs.

take care..and remember not to carry other peoples burdens or problems.it will only make you feel worse, and no..you are not going mad.cry if you need to..your emontions will never overwelm you.

There is many things you can do, therpay, vitamins, supplements,self-help books, crystal therpay,healing.....the thing with depression is not supressing it,but allowing your true feelings.
For vitmains etc please see this website.
I can recomend this self-help book amongst others by a very well known author whose work is very respected worldwide;
http://www.amazon.co.uk/You-Can-Heal-Your-Life/dp/0937611018/sr=8-1/qid=1169946555/ref=pd_ka_1/026-0872531-7298866?ie=UTF8&s=books
If you're interested in crystal therpay, a crystal that is veyr good for depression is Kunzite, it'll lift the heaviness in your heart & bring joy. You only have to hold the crystal or wear it about you or place it next to you where you at sitting for long periods for example. Just rememeber to cleanse the crystal every once in a while as they absorb negative energy (by placing in brown rice for 24 hrs) & you can safely eat the rice after! (you can buy from crystal shops or Ebay.
I found healing to extremely effective, if you're interested please email me & i'll send you more details.
