I know a darkness the likes of which most cannot fathom. The depths of which cannot be explored. An abyss devoid of sound and light. This is the type of place where even if a pocket of nothing were inside of it the nothing would be something in comparison.

See me. And look you well.
Look so well and deeply as to see me
and not the idol, the image I affront day by day, night by night.
See me, and when you look on me,
whether it be in the radiance of Apollo
or in the silvern glow of his lunar sister in the heavens...
See these hands, see this face, and see this mind.
See this mind of hollows and pitfalls,
snakes and eels,
dead petals and shriveled hives,
phantoms and banshees,
everwinding passages,
hardened and untouched,
locked with lost keys,
scarred in a spell of elemental blackness.
A blackness so black that pitch hides in fear...
that bats crash into my onyx walls...
that leviathons
neither stir nor strike a match of reason from my abyss.
Don't you see? That when you look on me,
you are blinded and cannot see,
for an elemental darkness hides that side of me
that once I gave freely.
But Nevermore...NO...Nevermore...
shall I let that spirit roam free to walk
where it can and will
be trampled into the ground,
to mingle with the slime trails of the slugs who precede me,
to be soddened and beaten,
to be torn so far from my reality,
as to be foreign when it returns,
shattered and broken,
marred and cheated,
limp and defeated...
