Black streaks may be caused by :

1. Dirty toner cartridge. You can usually check this by removing the cartridge and pushing back the cover to do a visual inspection. DO NOT touch the toner cartridge roller.

2. Dirty transfer roller - if you know where this is, you can look at it.

3. Dirty fuser - if you know where this is, you can remove it and do a visul of the roller. BE CAREFUL - FUSERS GET HOT.

4. Just plain ol' dirty printer. Pull out the toner cartridge and look inside the printer. You may see some toner residue that can be cleaned with paper towels.

Try a different toner cartridge. It could be that the image roller inside of the toner cartridge is damaged.

Go to www.hp.com and enter your model followed by the keywords "Print defects" in a search box.

Also be aware of the charging roller which is a foam covered roller. You cannot touch this roller. If you get oil from your hands on this roller you may have to replace it. It lies just underneath the toner cartridge.

Worst case, you may have to replace the fuser if it is damaged.
