I believe, just as great nations of times gone by ( Greeks, Romans, British Empire, Persia ) the United States is on it's last legs as a GREAT WORLD LEADER.
What's your opinion ??

I believe that China will surpass us in the next 50 years as the next world leader. Our culture has devolved into celebrity worship and naming people who have done NOTHING as newsmakers. This is the same thing that happened with the Greeks and Romans. Their last years were dominated by sex and entertainment, and this is where the United States is at today. Many of our top scientists and researchers have moved to Asia in hopes of finding a better culture that is more willing to devote time, money and resources in the name of science. We, on the other hand, pay movie stars some of our highest wages just to recite lines off a piece of paper in front of a camera. We have a president who will not support stem cell research in the name of God, college students who are more focused on partying and getting wealthy than studying and making this country better (look at all the students enrolled in theater classes instead of science or math majors), and tabloids outsell any other magazine on the market.

These are the symptoms of a country who has let fame and wealth go to it's head, and the next generations will suffer for it.

I don't believe we are on our "last legs" I believe that we need to really look at what we were and what we are quickly becoming.

We used to value education and families and our history. We valued our military and the people who served. We used to take responsibility for our actions and raised our children that way. As our government grows out of control and interferes more and more into our homes and businesses we are loosing ourselves. Our children are growing up too fast and out of control because we can't discipline them or teach them how to take responsibility for their actions. Every level of government is clogged down with unnecessary paperwork and full of people on the take.

Somewhere along the years we have de-valued honer, integrity, and honesty. We also find no pride in an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. We berate and belittle and begrudge as well as judge others. All the time. Racism should be a thing of the past here in the US....it is the year 2007, yet I see it all around the community I currently live in.

When did we decide we were the worlds police force? How did we get that job and when are we going to make the UN or these countries that ask for our help pay us for it? We spend too much money on other countries and not enough on our own problems and issues. We send our young men and women out into the world to do god only knows what and they die....and then we want to send more??!! You don't see Canada, or Mexico, or any country in South America jumping out there...do you? Or what about the many countries in Europe? Where is Spain, France, Romaina, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Scottland, Ireland, Iceland, Finland or the Netherlands? And what about China...what are they doing that we aren't? We need to take less responsibility for the rest of the world and consintrate on what is important here first. WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN FIRST then we can actually help someone else. Let someone else take up the ball and be the leader for a change...who cares? I don't see people running from Switzerland do you?

It could be, the Greeks fell because they were too divided (not a problem for us... yet). The Romans fell because their empire got too big to manage (not a problem w/ today's technology). I don't know why Persia fell. The British fell because another country (us) became more powerful. Britain still is a super power, just not top dog anymore. The reason why Britain fell could by why we fall if China or some other country surpasses us.

I know people don't like to hear it...but yes..I have to agree. And it certainly isn't wishful thinking. Have you heard all the speculations about the year 2012? Those people just might be right. Guess if we are still here...we shall see huh?
