three brothers whom my mother is descended from came here from Germany in 1850's. my mother was full German and although She never spoke the language was always proud on many German accomplishments. there are many German decedents here and feel as though Germans are the same as everyone else. there are good and bad in everyone -- no matter where they are from

Personally I think that most Americans view Germans as strong people. I think that the stereo typical German person to us would be...tall and stern. I know we don't hold the history of bad leadership against Germans as a people.Germans in our minds are very opinionated and speak there mind. Especially German woman. I don't think that you have very good fashion sense. Your sense of dress is more practical than flashy.Which isn't a bad thing. This just means that you pay more attention to necessities than luxury's. I could be very wrong but I think that basically this is what Americans think.

I think most Americans do not really think of you as German or English etc. I am just a person and you are just a person. I can not stand the decisions of the governments of many people but I never think badly of the people because of that.

Sorry, but as Nazis.
I mean, most of us aren't exposed to people from Germany, so we take what we know about your history and use that to access how we feel about a country.
Even kids at my school associate Germany automatically with Nazism, and I find myself joining in on the joke.

You may report me for this but, I'm answering truthfully. I can't comment on other Americans but, I can give my own views from my own experiences. I was an Army brat born in Frankfort, Germany. My heritage is Koenig so, I think that makes me pretty much German and I hate you guys. Before you get upset let me explain. Europeans, Germans included, like to remind America about our slave past that was over 140 years ago. I like to remind Germans over their Nazi past only 60 years ago. Americans never killed as many slaves as Germans have killed Jews.
I visited Germany back in 1987. I was in Der Dom in Cologne when I saw my wife speaking to someone several hundred feet below. It was a local complaining to my wife about all the damage America did to Colgne during WWII. I had to set her straight explaining that it was Germany who started two world wars and we were only there to finish them.
Last summer, I took my family to the Grand Canyon in Arizona and got in a huge fight with some Germans who were lounging around the hotel pool. I jumped in to play with my children and was rudely chastized about splashing them. Once again, I had to explain to the Germans that they were in America's "Desert" southwest and if they wanted to stay dry, they could step back from the pool 10 feet in any direction and they would remain dry. Then another German not yet involved had to open his big mouth asking me if I liked being the most unpopular person at the pool. To which, I replied, "Oh gee, I'm unpopular with Germans in MY OWN COUNTRY!!!". Not to mention German males need to seriously address whether or not they are actually male while wearing those ridiculous clam diggers women wear, wearing those ridiculous bikini bottoms women wear. Come on guys, check your pants. Do you have a set?
I could go on and tell you about my trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Repupic but, that too shows how I hate Germans.
Lastly, I really started hating Germans when Gerhard Schroeder got in America's way when we decided to invade Iraq. You have every right to dislike our decision but, you have no right to block it through the UN. We have kept Russia out of your country since 1945. I expect a little respect but, that's just me.
