*.rar is not any video file but it is a compressed file. U have to uncompress it just to view the files under it. U need to have software called Win RAR which can be downloaded from www.rarlab.com/download.htm

RAR is not a video extension, it is a compressed file extension, a bit like ZIP. You need software such as WinRAR to extract the file(s) from from the RAR archive and then play them...

rar is not a video extension. it is a compressed file, like a zip file. It may contain a video file. go to http://www.rarlab.com/ to download winrar. install it and then extract the rar file contents. if it is a vid file, you should then be able to determine what to play it with.
