He's a sponge (asexual) who acts like a little kid. For example, little kids blow bubbles, hold hands with their best friends, act super excited about dumb stuff. He's acting immature, not gay.

No, of course Spongebob isn’t gay! I hope it’s clear to everybody by now that Spongebob is NOT a natural sea sponge, he IS a synthetic cellulose kitchen sponge, and that he was ADOPTED. They just haven’t shown the episode where he was accidentally sucked from the kitchen sink down the disposal and through the sewers out into the ocean (like in Finding Nemo.) You can't EXPECT him to behave like a natural sea sponge, because he isn't one!
You probably haven't seen the episode where his girlfriend asks him to sleep with her, and when he asks her if she uses the pill, she says, "I'll just use my sponge...Bob."

He is asexual, he is a cartoon character intended to be suitable for a grade school demographic. I don't think he really acts gay... I mean gay guys don't all act the same just like not all straight guys act the same.
