I think it is because he is black or African American or whatever is the correct term. It is a big deal for him to be running for president to certain people. I just do not think that America is any more ready for a black president than they are for a woman president. I think slave reparations is the most ridiculous cause I have ever heard of, I mean why should we have to have higher taxes to pay for what our ancestors did to their ancestors, are the Chinese screaming for reparations, you know they built most of our railroads, black people were not the only race to suffer the indignities of slavery. I am not saying slavery was right, I do not believe in slavery in any form, it is just beyond my comprehension why they think we should pay for what we had no hand in, and none of them were slaves.

Actually Hillary had Hollywood behind her when the "love-fest" as you call it began. Frankly I think the media are so sick of being waist-deep in the political mire that the idea of a charismatic candidate with almost zero political baggage is simply irresistible.
Two more points I would like to make. 1) Experience does not matter for much in presidential races. Neither Bill Clinton nor George W. had any foreign policy experience when they were elected. In fact, many Texas politicians have suggested that Dubya didn't even do much governing when he was governor. And that's not a slight to him. Popular wisdom suggests the Texas governor doesn't have very much pull.
2) If I may, it's more than a tad ignorant to assume that Obama would have reparations "high on his agenda" simply because he's black. While he hasn't taken a public stance on it (that I'm aware of) it would be safe to assume he wouldn't think much about it for three main reasons; first he's middle class. Second, he's half white and third the black half of his family (his father) is an immigrant from Africa. In short, he's an educated middle class yuppie and not the descendant of slaves. Frankly, apart form the color of his skin, I don't think he has any ties to the African American community at all.

Maybe the media know Obama can't win. They are putting him at the center of attention to draw attention away from Hillary. Obama will draw all the negative attention too, and Hillary will not be examined. Later, when it is obvious that Obama is not a viable candidate, Hillary will be the obvious front-runner. They hope she will then be chosen to run for President or as Vice President with Al Gore.

Last time I checked, Sen. Obama is not a "boy", as you so eloquently put it, but rather a full-grown man with a family.
Second of all, there has to be SOMETHING for the media to like if they're covering him a lot! The fact there is a Black man with a snowball's chance for the presidency makes for an excellent story!!

Have you read his book the Audacity of Hope? I haven't but plan to do so.
perhaps Americans long for a new fresh voice. The good ole boys who are firmly entrenched are not able to take those views. I think its good to have some new voices out there The media will do their usual stories as they too crave new and exciting things. Surely we have room in our "famous for our ingenuity" country for new voices in politics??
