Why don't they play the Super Bowl the Sunday after the Conference Championships are decided?

One of the main reasons is to let any injured players get better. Having an extra week off between the games allows those with the small naging injuries to get better, and therefore make the Super Bowl a better game. The idea is that if you have more people healthy for the game, then the game will be better and no one team can say that they lost because they didnt have a little more time to recoup from a long season.

Its also for more money, more time to hype the game and that sort of stuff.

Marketing. The fact is that the money from the Super Bowl comes entirely from commercials, the two extra weeks give the network that much time to put a lot of Bowl related advertising on, more sports shows analyzing the show to death (And that's what it is- A SHOW much more than an athletic competition.) More talk radio shows, more money money money... For the producers of the SHOW. The more popular a pre-game analysis is, the more money can be charged by the networks from the advertisers. It's all about the Benjamins, as the saying goes.

the nfl reason mostly is that the superbowl scheduling is done 3 years in advance. we already know the next 3 locations for the superbowl (Glendale AZ, Tampa Bay FL, Miami FL...again)

since the scheduling is very meticulous and cannot be changed very easily that week off is a buffer zone in a way. if anything happens during the regular season that causes a delay, the superbowl will not be delayed this way.

i still stay however it would be cooler if they put a game during this week, like the conference championship losers play this week. and if there is a delay during the regular season then they just cancel the game conference championship losers' game.

i will see your component. In years previous Superbowl's have not particularly lived as much as the hype. additionally if one convention is loaded with greater powerful communities that convention championship may well be greater powerful on the inspiration of on field skills. although over the final a number of years there have been some particularly solid ones. I nevertheless think of the Superbowl is the terrific for here motives. a million. It determines the terrific group interior the international. 2. it is greater of an experience. 3. convention championships do no longer constantly pit competitors the two. interior the NFC this 365 days you will get Arizona/Carolina vs. Philly/large apple infrequently competitors.

First of all, Rocky, Ohio State is a college team. So, yeah, might be more careful with you word placement. Secondly, it is good to give an extra week off. We wouldn't want Peyton's thumb to be a legitamite problem, do we? Besides that, it adds to the total revenue that the super bowl brings in, which is extremely helpful to the economy.

Absolutely not. It's quite ridiculous if you ask me. The players are all antsy and want to get it over and done with, believe me. It's all a marketing game and they're like to build up hype before the game to sell more crap associated with the Super Bowl. How retarded was is that Ohio State hadn't played football in 53 days before the national championship? That's pretty stupid if you ask me. I'm starting to hate professional sports.

There wouldn't be enough time for teams to prepare and to fullfill their obligations such as media day.
