I'm just courious more than anything. Are their parents here who teach their children to have faith and believe in family and the people around them instead of a God or a Religious Belief? If religion is a personal belief, do you think its their choice as an adult or your right to force them into your beliefs and not their own?
What is your taken on it? If you do, what religion are you raising them to be?

(I am just courious on how different people think, I do not necessarily believe the questions I ask on here so please be nice and don't throw verbal daggers at me. Thank you in advance)

Hey there....I was born and raised Catholic, while I was practicing it (thru my younger years) my parents didn't practice doing it. So I eventually stopped going to church on Sunday. When I had my daughter, I didn't feel it was right. I didn't want to raise her in something that I no longer did. I feel it is her choice to make. It's not wrong of me, it was just my choice. I'm not saying I don't believe in God and the religion, I just don't do it.

I was raised in a fairly strict Catholic family, had the religion stuffed down my throat, got fed all the guilt ("if you do ___, you'll go to hell").
Had my fill of it by the time I was 18 or so.
When I raised my kids, they were taught the very basics, without the guilt. We didn't go to church.
Now, they're free do decide whether they need a 'higher power' as the explanation for the things they don't understand.
Personally, I believe that beliefs and faith are fine, but organized religion is just a money-grab preying on the fears of the 'faithful'.

i like your Q but have no youngins heres my opinion and no disrespect to any.... i believe in teaching children to be open minded to all beliefs to respect others ideas to be patient and tolerant to all religions and to ask questions regarding religion
why because that opens minds and in the long run can bring people of different religion race and ethnicity closer together
i am not religious but i respect and am curious about people in general-my main concern is that religion has become a matter of who's faith is right and who's is wrong.... tolerance- forgiveness
and love is what God is said to have wanted in us

My boyfriend has two children and he does not see religion as a need in his childrens lives. He sees morals, and family and staying true to ones self as most important. His children know of the bible and have been givin their choice. He is not a religious man and he does not want to force it on his kids as his mother did to him.

They should be taught to believe in themselves, the rest is up to them.
If they go the religious route, let it be by their own choosing, not by someone forcing it upon them.

properly you do not ought to augment them in a faith for them to have good morals. only teach them what you imagine is sweet and what you imagine is faulty. attainable boost them interior the morals that in many cases contain faith without the institution.

I am going to give my son options and let him decide what he wants to believe rather than forcing something on him.
