She'll take it eventually. Instead of YOU giving it to her have daddy do it or someone else. The reason most babies won't take a bottle from mom is because they know your scent and the breast is there. Given the choice they want the breast. But someone other than you (where the breast and scent is missing) they will eventually take it from. Patience & love my dear, let someone else give her the bottle at first.

I have the opposite happen to me--my baby will only take a bottle!! She never learned to latch and so I have to pump breastmilk every three to four hours!! That must be hard for you, though, not being able to take a bottle with you when you go out and if there is noone to watch the baby then you are stuck at home. I would still try bottles, even though she does not want them but I think eventually she will adapt. Good luck!!

I saw some new bottles at amazon called "breastflow" bottles that are shaped more like a breast and have an inner nipple that mimics the breasts let down reflex. The nipple itself is smaller so the baby has to take the large part of the nipple into its mouth just as it would take the areola into its mouth when breastfeeding. You may want to check them out.

It's possible that you might have waited too long to introduce the bottle...my lactation consultant recommends introducing it between 2-4 weeks. You might try letting someone else try to feed baby. Often babies won't take a bottle from a breastfeeding mom but will take it from dad or grandmom. They associate mom with the breast.

Compare the nipple on the bottle with the nipple on your breast, they are likely very different. Nipple confusion is a huge problem with a lot of breast feeding moms. I don't know what type of nipple you are using but as a suggestion, go to the store and get those bottles with the drop in liners.. the nipples on those bottles are quite similar to that of a breast, both in color, and to a point in texture as well (size too). Good Luck, I hope this helps.

Just try every bottle out there and hopefully something will work. I have a friend who couldn't get her son to take a bottle untill he was almost a year old. Neither of my children had a problem taking a bottle and never got nipple confusion but every baby is different.

My baby has a hard time taking the bottle from me, but has no trouble taking it from her daddy. I think it's because she sees me, and thinks "breast"....also, I think she can smell me, and prefers me.
Try having someone else give her the bottle, and you leave the room. It might be a struggle, and she might have to adjust, but she will.
Also, we found the Playtext bottles to be the best, and most like breastfeeding.

try leaving the room and let someone else feed her. she can smell your milk.
its amazing how your question is about getting her to take the bottle and everyone is already criticizing your parenting skills. its alright to leave your baby for a little bit if u need to go out to do errands. today in boston its 9 degrees outside and with the wind it is below 0, the weather is bad. if i needed to do food shopping or run some other errand i would not take my baby with me.

1) She won't take a bottle if you are in the house, why would she when she can smell you?
2) Why do you need to go out without her? I left my 10 month old for the first time a week ago and that was only because I was going to somewhere with live bagpiping. I almost didn't go, but it was important to my husband. Seriously I have no desire to be parted from my child. Out of the house for sure, but not apart from him.
