We love our mattress, it's the Costco version of the tempur-pedic.
The disadvantage is that it is really hard to sleep anywhere else that doesn't have one. For example, I am miserable now when I travel because the beds all hurt my hips and back. I was in the hospital for a week last year and literally needed painkillers and ice packs for my back because I'm no longer used to a regular mattress. Since I travel a lot, I've even considered getting the small "topper" to travel with. But it is so big and heavy that it's not feasible.
So, at home, it's awesome. If you travel, not so good.

Tim, Go to a large furniture store or any large mattress store and lye down on one if there heavy foam mattresses. They have several brands. They will not have the official brand name Tempur - Pedic. Simply roll to your side and all your normal sleep positions. If you like a stiff mattress and you have a sample of the official brand your looking for. Please consider one thing. Foam mattresses do not absorb heat well at all. In the summer you may sweat to death with out air conditioning in your home. Maybe you could cheat a little by using a thick Cotton mattress pad on top. Personally I felt they were all too stiff and non - compliant for my 6' 4" 215 lb. bony body. It's all up to the individual. Good Luck Shopping.

its the best... Tempurpedic mattresses are made by a Swedish company known as Tempur-pedic. The main benefit o this mattress compared to the more traditional ones is that it matches your body shape and so averts buildup of pressure at specific points in the body. Besides fitting to your body and easing pressure points on your body, the Swedish tempurpedic mattress also gives you the support, which is not offered by any other mattress. Moreover when you get up from the mattress, its original shape is restored nicely, but when you lie down on it, it fits your body shape as needed. The reason for this is the material (viscoelastic) material used in manufacturing. The way in which the foam is prepared gives it these special properties. A new Tempurpedic mattress has a 10-year warranty.

On a tempur-pedic mattress, the memory foam allows your body to sink into a perfect fit in the mattress. However, the parts that sink down begin to get hard and turning over becomes all but impossible without having to wake up and shift your weight with all your might. I am convinced that the poeple who buy them only rave about them because they don't want to admit they wasted a couple thousand dollars on such a contraption.

Well, the full mattress costs about $1600, so I bought one of the 3" deep memory foam matress toppers, It works great!!, and goes for about $120.I have a bad back, and this really helps. One thing is, since you sink in some, it is a little harder to get up from.Other than that, I have heard that the full mattresses are very nice, but are too soft for some folks backs. It is personal preference, I guess.

I have one, and it's the best night's sleep I've ever had. It's the most comfortable because it's soft, and yet firm at the same time. It supports all your angles when you sleep and the only thing I've found that may be a disadvantage, is that it's hard to get out of the bed in the morning!!! LOL

researched this and i agree with bulldog above. as he said you sink down and after you fall asleep you cannot easily turnover without waking up completely trying to take another position. it is a 50-50 good-bad deal. i decided to skip the whole thing but i must compliment their hugely successful marketing program. must have cost many millions to get so many sold. you can get essentially the same thing on overstock discount on the web for so much less. and there is an italian mattress company (name?) that is less. it would be wise to buy ad topper on overstock for very little made of exactly the same foam to test. i think walmart is selling memory foam toppers and pillows now. the bedroom shops are charging an arm and a leg for this memory foam. absurd.

I went mattress shopping and tried both spring type and tempur-pedic. Some of the spring type seemed more confortable to me. You just have to go lay on them and decide for yourself, ratings and opinions just don't seem to work when it comes to mattresses.

I have one and they are incredible. I have difficulty sleeping at night but I've had this for a week and each time, once I've tucked in, I've been fast asleep within 10-20 minutes.
The best part is waking up, no more neck aches or back aches. It's worth the investment.
The only disadvantage is probably getting used to how it feels. After one night, that problem will solve itself.
