I think public schools should be teaching about birth control, not abstinence. With abstinence, you either do it or you don't. If a person chooses to abstain, then great. But if you do have sex, then, ooops...noone ever taught you about the different methods of birth control, their rates of effectiveness, or even the proper way to put on a condom. Informing teens and even pre-teens about birth control doesn't increase the rate their going to be having sex, it gives them the information to make a decisioin.

Birth Control should be explained, taught and avialable in public schools.

But -- MORE IMPORTANTLY -- sexuality in general should be given priority as well. Young people should be taught what it means to be in a relationship, how to recognize and control urges, what to do when pressured to have sex, etc. Young people will always expirement with sex, regardless what the Christian right attempts to legislate. Public school systems need to live in the real world and help thier students make mature decisions.

I think that birth control and abstinence should be taught more often.

And it's common? I never knew that. Come to think of it, I've only seen one or two pregnant teens in my town.

Definitely. We should be teaching more about safe sex than abstinence because we can't stop teenagers from having sex. We ahould reach a compromise that they should be allowed to have sex if they could do it safely. Therefore, birth control should be top priority in sex ed.

No. Sex is never a good idea at that young age. It should be kept within the bonds of marriage.
