Yes, you can dye your hair. I dyed mine up to 8 months. Dyes are relatively safe.

Yes. I was told it was OK by 3 different doctors. The reason it's so controversial is because hair dyes used to contain formaldehyde, which is of course vary harmful. Now, hair dyes are much safer and it is OK to use them when pregnant. Some doctors will tell you to wait until after the 1st trimester, just to be safe.

I dye my hair about every 3 weeks. With my first pregnancy I wasn't even aware that I was pregnant until I was about 9 weeks along. I dyed my hair several times when I was pregnant and didn't know it because the color wasn't coming out as I had hoped so I kept redoing it. I also died my hair throughout my entire pregnancy and my daughter was born as healthy as can be. I even asked my OB about it and she said it was fine. Don't worry as long as you are in a well ventilated room, just as everyone else has suggested. The chemicals do not seep into your blood stream through your scalp but you can breathe them in, so make sure you open the windows!

you can dye your hair, just be sure your in a well-ventilated room, and be careful about some of the bleaches out there because they are way stronger and the fumes are dangerous. no, the chemicals do not seep into your skin any more than superficially, they do not enter your blood stream (if they did they would be dangerous to you too). Oh and be careful dying your hair because the pregnancy hormones can change your hairs texture and dye may not take the way your used to, also perms may not set well.

First of all congratulations!I am 4 month pregnant and had the same question. This is what my Obg told me.Try to wait as far a you can into the pregnancy to dye your hair. All chemicals reach the baby. The bigger the fetus is, the less it affects him/her.The same works for semi-permanent dyes or all those that claim to be ammonia free and such, whatever they put into them, reaches your child.I am going to try Henna (powder or creme).Henna is based on plants. There are many brands out there.Go for those made in India they have the most natural blends of them all.I am looking terrible with big roots and grays in my head..but I noticed people are interested in the baby now, not in my hair. And I will do anything to ensure a healthy baby and I am sure you will as well.Hang in there! I bet you look beautiful anyways!!
