well SRV could really shred some blues! a lot of speed guitar players play arpeggios which isnt really speed playing at all. sure its hard but its just like pcikin out a chord! as far as straight up speed i have to go with SRV. he could also strum very very fast!

well, i don't think you should restrict ur category to "classic rock"... u shud actually ask: "who's the fastest guitarist?" the reason for this is that u have some guitarists who play in a certain style (neo-classical) for example, but also have a few songs that are rock-ish... blues-ish... etc...
so if ur question is "who's the fastest guitarist in the world", then let me tell u that none of the people u have on ur list actually make it anywhere near the following people i'm about to mention (in terms of speed only... i'm not talking about style or anything else, just pure speed)
alot of ppl argue over who the fastest is, but i think most ppl would agree that Michaelangelo Batio is the fastest ever. the guy doesn't really have a defined style, he plays many styles, and plays them all extremely fast. he also uses guitar techiniques that are not used by anyone else (primarily cuz no one else can do them!) such as playing with 2 guitars at the same time using his left and right hand.
other fast guitarists are Yngwie Malmsteen, Jason Becker (who unfortunately doesn't play anymore because of a paralyzing disease called Lou Gehrig's disease), John Petrucci (guitarist in Dream Theater), Steve Vai, Alexei Laiho (guitarist in Children of Bodom), Michael Romeo (guitarist in Symphony X), Vinnie Moore, Paul Gilbert, Chris Impelliterri, and i'm sure i'm forgetting lots.
however, to me, the ultimate guitarist is john petrucci. he is the best all-round guitarist out there. he plays any style, incredible rhythms and solos, incredible taste, pure genius. listen to his solo album if u want a taste of what he can do.

But Hendrix and Brian May made fast solos too.

For sheer speed, maybe Paul Gilbert. But I don't care for him too much.
