People were seeing flying saucers way before movies but no one really cared then either.

well, why do u think flying saucers appeared in movies? it's cuz they were supposedly seen by someone at some point, he/she somehow concluded that they were being not of this earth, and when he told the story to other ppl, they started taking everything that they didn't know about or that wasn't know about around the world and thought of it as something alien and out of this world.
so yeah, regardless of movies, it would've happened anyway. movies just made the process faster i guess.

well, since aliens, saucers, etc. appeared I believe it would be hard if they dissappeared. People got used to them and not seeing them would be strange esp. if the film is fictional. We as audience if prompted with certain cinema effects and we get to like them it would be hard on us to give them up, unless a substitute comes into view.
Try to judge it as one of the audience and see what u think of it. Tell yourself, if these effects suddenly did not appear once more would I like the new cinema effects or the new kind of films appearing ? Answer ur question and u'll know the answer for sure.

Sightings have been around since ancient times. There are paintings as far back as the egyptian pharoah times that have pictures of Ufo's painted into them. Its all about the people's willingness to believe in them.

How serious must we take them. If one was parked in my parking space I would not take it serious.

probably....but aliens could have been fabricated in our minds because of movies. i wish i could get abducted=)
