I want to hear something other than "I would pay my house off, or I would get a new house, or take a trip?" I wanna hear, something like take a trip to Africa and buy all sorts of food for people.

3 of the largest lottery winners in our state befell bad consequences mostly because they didn't plan, didn't get the mindset quick enough (stayed with their old mindset at the level they were), and poor financial advisors.

If a person came into a large amount of money first they need to stay in the life they are and save the money until they have time to think. Then they should invest it where interest will grow on that money so that they can be confortable for the rest of their lives. With the excess they could put it into a trust and have poor people take out micro loans. Or they could invest part in some project to help people overseas. However here in America people need help too. Because of the ecology problems ahead, if I came into a lot of money I'd plant trees, attempt to keep the soil from becoming overused and dusty, I'd build more desalination plants, and build more studio apartments for the elderly and individuals who are homeless. The government already has programs for "families" but individuals and elderly need assistance at this time.

You asked, so here goes.

I would pay all my loans off, hire a chef who is a master in Thai, Indian, Mandarin Chinese, and italina cusine, buy a small SUV, the top of the line Macintosh laptop, a Canon 1DS 16 MP digital camera and L pro lenses, go to Rio, tour the USA on the Amtrak, take a road trip and photograph the southwest, hire a deep tissue massuse, set up a trust for a favorite charity, tithe to a church, give to the LA Mission, support a 2008 democratic presidential candidate, put a worthy hard working student through college, get much needed dental work done, have anti aging plastic surgery, have a big dinner party, buy some Dom Pergnon champagne and Johnnie Walker Red/Black/Blue label, See U2 in concert, buy an acre of fertile land to grow organic foods, get a HD TV and every cable service out there, buy some art, buy some gold coins, buy or rent a nice condo, give $10,000 anonymously to someone in real need, rescue more cats from the pound, buy a Bechinstein or rebuilt Steinway piano, buy an hour of Bill Clinton's, Tiger Woods, and Sen Barack Obama's consulting time and have lunch, go to the movies 3 times a week, start a fashion photography studio business, ask actress Sally Field to dinner at the best LA club, play golf and join the country club, have lunch with actor Morgan Freeman (one of my fav actors) take a cruise to Alaska, go to Vegas and stay at Bellagio first class, hire an ex Navy SEAL personal trainer to get me in shape, have lunch with Gov Arnold of CA, and a few other things. This is a good start though

I would "pay it forward" and help as many people as I could. Not only family but others less fortunate than me. I'd buy my kids' college tuition outright. And I'd be a "professional student" and go back to college and take as many classes as possible. For the sheer joy of learning. A degree'd be nice at the end of it all. a degree in something like counseling, social work, whatever. Something that I could help others with and wouldn't have to care about how fat that paycheck is at the end of the week since a lot of those kinds of jobs don't pay well. I'd travel the world and appreciate everything I have even more after seeing how little others have. I'd try to spread it around as much as possible. And I'd give lots and lots to the March of Dimes Save the Babies Campaign which is near & dear to my heart.

Hmmm... Growing up rather poor, I've had a lot of time to think about this one. I would put one-third of it away as a safety net or nest egg (IRA, mutual funds, CDs, etc. for diversity). I would then take a portion and open up a dual-lingual preschool and infant center (I work with children and it's always been a dream to open something up with my own philosophy). I would ofcourse hire center directors, but would still be deeply involved. But, before opening up my center and AFTER putting away my safety net, I would take a one month trip, just to explore, get away and process my new situation.
As for my family, I would give a modest sum to each of my immediate relatives, say $10,000. Just enough for them to invest it and with a little work on their own parts, make it grow.
And, even with my limited income, I've always donated my time and services, so I don't think that would change much.

I'd take an endless road trip all over the US, preferrably with my best friend.....then we'd go and see the rest of the world too...I know it's a trip, but for me it would mean the world. I suppose we could help all sorts of people along the way :)

OK after the obvious I'd give about five thousand dollars to each of my close friends (five in total) and each of my first cousins.
And then I'd treat myself for a ride in a MIG. yes you can get a ride in a fighter plane. Website is called FLYMIG.com
OH and go to incredible adventures.com for a weekend adventure called Urban Ops or Covert Ops see http://www.incredible-adventures.com
That's what I would do if I won the lottery

i would buy a new house and car for each member of my family, then build a ridiculous mansion outside venice, italy. if i have anything left over after all that, i want to take a space-vacation. and if i still have some left over, i would build an underground bunker in the midwest somewhere.

I want to buy a farm and set it up as a permanent place for homeless people. I'd contact the colleges and get people who are working on their Master's degree (or any other degree) to do projects with them such as job training, mentoring, group therapy, or whatever else they need, such as dental care.

I have thought about this in depth. I would lavish myself, naturally, and this is what I would do with the rest:

I would change it into $20 bills, gather together all of my family, friends, and acquaintances, throw the crap into the air, and scream, "go for it, you vultures!"

Money is the root of all evil, but it is fun to have

If the amount is enough for me to not have to work for the rest of my natural live.

Then I will go back to school and learn about medical and practice theraphy, either physical or psychologica.

I will go to the poor places and treat people for free.
