Who cares more for our country? Why was this question removed?

only half of the residents came back, and they are working very hard to rebuild. They need help, and so do the contractors...and illegals are there to help. I was there 3 weeks ago, and I can tell you that they need more than just local government's help. Maybe we should stop pointing fingers, and start helping out.

The people of NO didn't vote for him, the evacuees did, largely on account of racism. The people doing the work in rebuilding are PI SSED!

My direct answer to your question is because the illegals are willing to work for less money.

As far as moving forward is concerned the local government is responsible. The US consitution prohibits the federal government from taking over unless requested to come in. But while NOLA wants our tax dollars they don't want anyone telling them how to spend it. The reason Nagin was having trouble getting the FEMA money is he wanted a lump sum payout and not have to justify his expeses.

An example of money being misappropriated: a metal recycling company from Texas submitted a bid to recover all of the abandoned cars in NO for $100 a car. Nagin decided to use a Louisiana company instead who charged $200 a car. Instead of making $5 million dollars he paid out $10 million dollars.

Nagin didn't have a hurricane emergency manmagement plan in place until September of 2006, when the hurricane season was over because he was too busy trying to get reelected to worry about the city.

And finally, despite the fact Nagin is personnally responsible for every flood and storm related death in NO by ignoring the storm until it was too late to evacuate the 10% of the residents without cars, he was reelected. The people of NOLA chose corrupt mediocrity.

As to why it was removed I don't know. It is a legitimate question.

Are you sure you are a libertarian? It is not the Federal Government's responsibility to rebuild New Orleans or any other US city or state for that matter. That is the responsibility of the people of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. Why should people living in Bozeman, Montana be forced to pay to rebuild New Orleans? If people living in Bozeman want to donate to charities to help the people of New Orleans, like so many Americans did that is fine and should be encouraged. But again this is not the realm of the Federal Government.

If I do not have homeowner's insurance and my house burns down should the Federal Government pay to rebuild it? No it is my responsibility.

If insurance companies do not charge high enough premiums to people living in areas prone to disasters that allow said insurance companies to remain solvent when such disasters strike, and worse, expect the Federal Government to bail them out using tax payer dollars, how is that difference from corporate welfare? Something you have repeatedly stated you are against. The insurance companies get to keep the premiums they have collected for years, and when disaster strikes tax payers throughout the US pay to rebuild not them.

Insurance companies should charge rates high enough to allow them to cover such damages. If the rates in a certain area are too high for people to afford maybe people should not be living in that particular area.

On a side note, you do not believe that large corporation cajole the Federal Government into enacting regulations as a means to stifle competition? Well that is funny since the Cato Institute has published many academic studies with this as the central thesis. The Cato Institution is pretty much the only Libertarian think-tank, and is the main body responsible for promoting Libertarian thought.

Therefore, you being a true Libertarian must believe--what you have coined as a Conspiracy Theory--that large corporations want Federal Regulations to prevent competition. So, when are you planning your trips to Dallas to visit the grassy knoll and New Mexico to take grainy pictures of lights moving in the sky?

Please see the link below to read about the Cato Institute's stance on Federal Regulations:

What is ANYONE doing for the people in the Midwest who have been slammed with snow storms and have seemed to have power outages more than not in the past 2 months? Oh wait - they actually don't feel like their entitled to something. They will use their own hands and effort to do that hard work...

Good for them, keeps them busy. Maybe the people of New Orleans should get off their pathetic lazy butts and help them. Funny how you never hear the people of Florida whine and complain like the people of New Orleans.

It was removed because you don't know what the heck you are talking about. When you make a statement like that, you need to have your sources in hand.
